up in the ranks

Last night at practice, I got my yellow star.

There is this advancement system, see, that indicates where you are skill-wise. When you first make the league you are Fresh Meat and a White Star. You can do non-contact drills but that's it. After X number of practices you can test for your yellow star and, if you pass, become eligible for contact/blocking drills. After another X practices, you test for Orange and this means you are allowed to scrimmage. Finally, your Green star means you are no longer Meat and are now eligible to be drafted onto a team and bout in the regular season.

Last night I turned Yellow and boy do my shoulders hurt.
